The early prehistoric species Homo rudolfensis and Paranthropus boisei
lived 2.4 million years ago. Researchers discovered in Malawi how
adaptable their diet was. "The Homo rudolfensis and Paranthropus
boisei we studied ate 60 to 70 percent of what were known as C3
photosynthetic plants that were found within the trench system. These
were probably mainly parts of trees, such as their fruits, leaves and
tubers," said one researcher.
